  • Federal Pay on construction jobs Iowa

I work for a construction comapany and we work many federal pay jobs. I am an equipment operator and have to do mechanics work on machines often. I was wondering if it was legal for an employer to pay general labor pay while i am doing this? There is a classification for a mechanics tender in the iowa federal pay scale and that is what I am essentially doing. Just wondered if anyone knows anything about how this works.

    Jason,

Contact the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division. Ask for Steve Archbald and he will assist you in gettng your Davis Bacon Act pre-determined wages for the federal sites you'd worked on. Commonly, you are only eligible for the time you've spent on those sites.

    Hope this helps.
