    If an employeer gives you 10 days vacation time, do they have a right to tell you that you have to take 5 of those days at one given time? Obviously it is the employeers right as to how much time they give you and days off need to be approved before hand, but do they have the right to tell you how to use the time they have given you?

    Yes, they do. There is no law in any state that requires them to offer any vacation at all; they get to make the rules as to how the time they voluntarily offer is used.
    The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
