  • Vacation taken away in Alaska

I have 6 1/2 days of carryover vacation from 2007. I was told that I must take all carryover vacation by the last full week of April 2008. If not I will lose days and pay. Does Alaska have any labor law to require a company to pay for unused vacation? I'm a hourly employee.

They don't appear to, no. Hmmm, forced time off with pay. I'd take that in a New York minute.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

Alaska has no law that prohibits a vacation "use it or lose it" policy.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia
