  • Maternity leave laws in Colorado Colorado

Hi I was just wondering if anyone knew about the maternity leave laws in Colorado? Im due in May wiht my second child and I have been with the co for 4 years. With my first I took 6 weeks, however with this one I want to take more as my first isnt 2 yrs old yet and I work graveyard shifts, so the transition is going to be difficult. What is the max I can take? Also whe should I notify my employer of my plans for leave?( how long I plan to take off etc) Thank you!

Provided your employer meets the 50 or more employees test within a 75 mile radius and you have worked a minimum of 1250 hours in the past 12 months you should qualify for 12 weeks of protected FMLA. YES of course you need to give them notice of your intent to take the leave and the sooner you do that the better.

See here for federal level guidelines for FMLA.

    Congratulations on your baby btw.
