  • Changed from Salaried to Contract Labor Texas

I was hired as an Office Manager/Admin Asst for a small company a little over a year ago and am paid a salary of 30K per year. Now, my employer wants to change me to contract pay, but still performing the same job duties. He only wants to change me to contract pay because he is tired of the payroll hassle. I am the only employee for the company. Can I be changed to contract pay even thought my job duties, hours, etc have not changed?

Not legally. The "payroll hassle" is part of running a business and having employees. Even just one employee.

Agreed. However he could legally have you be someone else's employee and "rent" you from them. This is a common and legal solution for small companies.
