Any state or federal law mandating reimbursement of mileage?

  • #2
Nope. This is purely up to company policy.

The only thing of which I am aware is the IRS regs regarding record keeping and rates of reimbursement. If you keep a written contemporaneous record of your business mileage, this can be deducted from your income tax using the IRS standard mileage rate or depreciation schedules. If your company does reimburse for the mileage, anything over the IRS standard rate is taxable, anything less may be deductible.

      TRIPLICATE post.

Cooper, I don't care how much you want there to be a law requiring your employer to pay mileage, posting the same question multiple times is not going to find you one.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
