  • Mandatory HR Trainings Ohio

    Hello,

I was wondering what Hr trainings are mandatory in Ohio.

    Thanks

  • #2
If you are asking about what training HR employees are required to take, there are none (in any state).
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

      Mandatory Training

      Hi,

Thanks for your response. I had seen this statement on another website and wanted to check into Ohio.

"Know what training is mandatory in your state or locale. California, as an example, requires sexual harassment training every two years. Why not get in the habit before it is mandated by government?"

They're talking about training for all employees. To the best of my knowledge, though, Ohio doesn't have any.

        Betty3, do you know?
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

I have nothing on mandatory training for HR personnel in Ohio.

Only that in Ca. eff. '05 sexual harassment training was to be mandatory for at least certain levels of employees - supervisors, managers...... (I believe only a 2 hr. class)

This was in an Alexander Hamilton Institute newsletter:

An ounce of prevention is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in government cures. Besides money, exactly what sexual harassment "treatment" did the EEOC prescribe for a rental firm ($1.5 million), an auto dealership ($500,000), a glass container company ($180,000), and a beverage distributor ($1.79 million)?

Sexual harassment training, that's exactly what. It's become a standard part of all EEOC sexual harassment settlements, of which there are thousands every year. Plus, the U.S. Supreme Court (in Faragher v. Boca Raton) has mandated that sexual harassment training is a prerequisite if an organization uses the "affirmative defense" for harassment claims against supervisors.

So before the EEOC — or a judge and jury — demands that you provide sexual harassment training, institute it on your own terms.
