  • HSBC Retail Services - Same Old Household Tricks

It seems that Shea v Household might not have changed anything. A new
trend was spotted with GE accounts transferred to HSBC - Household. A
horrowing mortgage experience appears in detail on the web site. The
following are some of the reports received by Household - HSBC Watch
    this week:

    Report #1:

"I attempted to pay off a promotional no interest balance 1 month
before the promotion expired through a balance transfer with another
low interest account. Incidently, the check was returned to the
transfered account on the exact date that the promotion expired.

I contact HSBC and was told that if i can prove that i attempted to
pay off the account prior to the promotion expiring, the interest
accumulation would be credited. (This was told to me by a manager, I
have his name and extension.) Of course, i sent all of the needed
information to the company to verify the attempt to pay it off.

They are refusing to credit my account the interest accumulation and
of course, the manager i spoke to is no where to be found. I asked for
to speak to various levels of the chain of command and was told that
someone would call me back. Here I sit 1 week later with no phone
call, still unable to locate the original manager that informed me of
the credit and of course i still owe the interest accumulated."

    Report #2:

"They took over a loan we had and with another lender. The first
statement they sent us showed an outstanding balance. I have tried for
4 months to get my account cleaned up with them. I finally filed a
complaint against them with the Federal Trade Commission and when I
told a rep with HSBC that, she said "why, because you don't know where
    you send your payments?"

    These people are ridiculous."

    Report #3:

"I purchased a motorcycle from someone in NY. The motorcycle title
listed a lien which was paid off. The owner didn't have a copy of the
lien release any longer. I am trying to find someone at HRSI who can
provide this info (I've emailed, written and called). Everyone I reach
says they can't provide a lien release because the lien is not in my
    name.

I have the signed over title and lien releases do not provide personal
info so I don't see the problem. Is there a way, or someone to
contact, who can provide a lien release for a 2003 Ninja 250
Motorcycle (vin # JKAdeletedA097481). The person the lien was
originally issued under has washed his hands of them and said I can
get a copy directly from them. Turns out this is not at easy as I
    thought it would be!

The lien info on the title shows:

    HRSI
    700 N Wooddale Rd
    Wooddale IL 60197

Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks"

Has this been resolved? And if so how exactly? I'm in the same situation, I bought a bike, on the title is listed household retail services with a lien recorded. The owner doesn't have any of the old info from the paid off loan. The automated telephone numbers cannot connect me to a human being and I need an account # or social security number of the owner in order to get anywhere with their phone number. I'm stumped as to what to do, I may just stop in at an HSBC branch and see what they have to say.
