  • Is notarization necessary before filing? Washington

I'll be filing several documents with the county Superior Court for a friend. These will be Notice of Appearance, Answer to Complaint and Certificate of Service (also postal receipt).

Someone told me that my friend had to get these documents notarized. I can't find that this is necessary in any instructions I've been reading. Does she need to get these documents notarized before I file them? Alternatively, does she need to be the one to physically file them?

If the papers (ie summons/complaint) when received were notarized, then they must be notarized when filing them. (or you can have them notarized anyway)

They can be filed/delivered by her but they don't have to. They can be filed/delivered by a lawyer if person has one or a reliable/trusted friend.
