Can I file bankruptcy on my own without a lawyer?

    Thank You,
    DJS

You can but a lawyer is recommended - it can get complicated. You can buy books on how to file for bankruptcy - Nolo Press has some.

I agree with Betty. Nolo Press is good, but there are many bankruptcy attorneys out there that work at lower fees if it's a simple bankruptcy (not a business) depending on whether you own real estate, etc. Your local bar association can give you a referrall to an attorney or two who will give you a free 30 minute consultation.
I am not an attorney, and don't play one on TV. Any information given is a description only and should be verified by your attorney.
