NICOLE Richie called us yesterday to respond to Diane Alexander Richie,
who claims one reason she is divorcing Lionel Richie is to keep her two
kids away from Nicole - who was adopted by the singer and his previous
wife. "She wants the kids [Miles, 9, and Sofia, 5] to be raised
normally, not like Nicole," a friend said the other day. But Nicole
tells us: "If you want a normal life, go get a [bleep]ing job and stop
asking for $300,000 a month." The clever co-star of "The Simple Life"
said Diane "was 18 and bulimic when she met my dad." Nicole, who has
gone into rehab to get off drugs, said, "At least my problems are over
and I'm 22." Nicole was particularly incensed by Diane's request for
$20,000 a year for cosmetic surgery. Nicole claims Diane is dating her
plastic surgeon, "so why should my father have to pay?" A close friend
of Diane said she had beaten her teenage bulimia and knew nothing about
any plastic surgeon. "Nicole blames Diane for breaking up her parents'
marriage," the pal explained. "And she is threatened and jealous because
Miles and Sofia are Lionel's biological children, and Nicole isn't."
