Hello there Shelley and Barb. (Other CC's are just for the heck of it)
When you reply, please select "REPLY TO ALL" not just REPLY.
Shelly, Barb Myland is my disclosure worker at the CCAS in Toronto whom I
was under while a Crown Ward in Picton.
Barb, Shelly is from the Hastings Country (Bellville, Picton etc) CAS. I
have contacted Hastings to ask for any records related to the Twin Maple
Family home.
Now, to both of you.
I am looking for a video tape that was taken of me(John Dunn), Paulo Martins
(Now a foster parent in Picton on the mountain), and Charles Cormier where
we disclosed the abuse in the Twin Maple Family home, which ended up in him
(Paul Kennedy) losing his license. I want to know where that video is, and
also what paper trail there is concerning this abuse.
I would also like to know what documents are kept at any level, which would
detail the closure of that group home and why it was closed.
I know that you will just say "we can not provide you with that" but I am
only asking for information such as:
1. Do they keep any files which document the closure of a group home and if
so, what are they called. (ie: form 14) or what ever the documents are
called which describe to the Society why a home was closed, the reports
given by the kids in foster care which were abused to cause the closure. I
want to know what those files would be called and where they would be
stored. As a member of the public, and a survivor of the abuse, I feel I
have a right to know this information and I feel the public also has a right
to know this information as well as it is in the publics best interest
concerning public safety and health and welfare.
2. When those video's were taken of me telling of my abuse and the abuse I
witnessed in the group home, in the Picton office back in approximately
1987, and the video of Paulo Martins telling of his abuse and the abuse he
witnessed, and the video of Charles Cormier telling of the abuse he suffered
and witnessed, What do you call those video tapes when this happens (when
kids report abuse and you record it) What do you, (the Society) call these
tapes?
3. What is done with these tapes when they are created (how are they used,
and how and where are they stored, and for how long)
4. When children report they are abused in a home, and that home gets shut
down, what are all the steps taken during this process in order to shut down
a group home, or a foster home?
This information will be provided to my web site, and that is all if you
answer promptly and with as much detail as possible.
If I get no answer, or if I get a general form answer of "that is
confidential" information, I am going to make a very large deal of all these
procedures during the whole summer and until I get answers. I will start
talking to the press, telling my stories of abuse, and I will also start
collecting many foster children, and survivors together in order to collect
a huge voice of hundreds to back me up and then we are going to do public
events such as story telling in the parks at random, and on street corners
to inform the public of this ongoing secrecy of abuse which goes on in the
system to chilren and families in foster care.
