I am hoping someone can help me. I filed for bankruptcy in 2001 (medical
bills). I am still getting letters from a hospital about a balance I owed
them. They told me that I would have to send them a copy of the declaration
page and that they would have to be listed as a creditor before they would
adjust my account. I have searched everywhere I know and cannot find the
paperwork. I left messages with my lawyer. They seem unwilling to want to
help me.

My question is: Wouldn't my lawyer keep a copy of the declaration page?

They claimed that they didn't have a copy, but I think they do.

Thank you!

Eileen

Yes, your attorney will have a copy of everything in the file, unless they
lost it. That happens.

You can go to the court records room and buy a photocopy of any page you
need from the case file.

You can give your attorney written demand for your entire file.

If it turns out that your BK was ineffective as to this hospital bill, see
another lawyer about attorney malpractice.
