In March of 2002, I delivered a brand new complete computer system,
ordered from mwave.com, to one Carrie Gluck of Bangor, Michigan, with
the understanding that she would return the full amount of purchase
(500 united States Federal Reserve Notes) within 30 days. In May of
2002, having received nothing from her, I informed her that the system
would be repossessed if she did not give me at least 100 FRN's by June
10th. While her husband Geoff delivered the 100 in cash before that
date, after that time she:

- made no attempt to pay me
- made no attempt to contact me, and
- moved twice without informing me

In 2003, a friend informed me that she was living next door to him,
and that he was trying to get her evicted, so if I wanted to confront
her I would have to do it quickly. I did so, stating that I considered
the 100 FRN's she had paid to be a rental fee for the time she had
used my computer, and I had come to repossess my property. She then
became very agitated and hostile, and claimed that I had cheated her
by selling her a supposedly new computer with used parts, and that she
discovered this when the hard drive failed and she took it in for
service. (This is a lie. I still have the receipt from mwave.com for a
100% new system, I've never had a problem with anything I've bought
from them, and the only change made to the system before it was
delivered to her was the removal of a DVD-ROM drive as payment for my
services, which she was perfectly aware of.) I left, having determined
that neither the money owed me nor my property would be forthcoming,
and fearing for my physical safety if I remained.

Since that time, I have learned that Carrie defrauded a trucker's
widow by convincing her to sign over the papers for her deceased
husband's truck, and then bragging to others that since the paperwork
was now in the name of herself and Geoff, she had no intention of
making any more payments. The only sign of justice in this matter so
far is that their "new truck" became stuck axle-deep in a muddy
driveway. Carrie has also ruined her childrens' credit ratings; since
the phone company would no longer allow her to have an account with
them, she has opened accounts in each of her childrens' names, running
up enormous debts in each name before moving on to the next. I am
informed by reliable parties that this is merely a small sampling of
her typical behavior.

Since she has no material assets to speak of, there is no way the
court system can make whole my losses/damages, so I have given up any
hope of ever receiving the monies I am owed, or the computer which is
my rightful property. Instead, I am informing the world, and in
particular the inhabitants of Michigan, of the fact that Carrie Gluck
is a thief, a liar and a parasite, and no honest person should have
any dealings with her whatsoever.

I am also still offering a reward of 50 FRN's to any individual who
returns my stolen property in usable condition. Please contact me by
email if you are in a position to do so.

Apparently, you didn't read the original message which stated that in
return for setting up and delivering the computer (which was bought with
a valid license for Windows 2000, before you go shooting off your mouth
again), I got the DVD-ROM drive out of it (since it already had a CD-RW
as well, and she stated that she had no need for the DVD-ROM).
You got played like a flute.

Some people merely want to appear witty and clever, rather than ever
contribute anything of substance. You appear to be one of them.

I'm curious like a previous poster on why you call cash FRN's. Your best
bet is to take her to small claims court and request your computer back, be
sure to take all the pertinent info, receipts for the computer, any
contracts you had her sign, and any copies of correspondence you have sent
her. This would be a better approach than just hoping someone will break
into her house and return the computer (also a great way to spend a night or
two in jail btw).

That's one expensive DVD-ROM, eh?

Personally, I would be more concerned with why I was taken than hoping for help
on UseNet (of all places). Did I misjudge character? Am I that gullible? Was
I mesmorized by a nice ***? Am I a complete and total pushover?

DVD players are $40. You could have saved yourself $460.

Just get a few BIG friends and go take the thing back. Or get $500 worth of
revenge.

They are two separate things. I have four FRNs in my pocket right
now. Their collective value, however, is fifty-one dollars. It would
be inaccurate to say that I have fifty-one federal reserve notes in my
pocket. (It would also be inaccurate to say that I have four dollars
in there.)

If she were to write you a check for five hundred dollars, she would
have given you *zero* FRNs, yet she would have satisfied her debt to
you. And I'll bet you wouldn't turn it down.

FRNs? What kind of crazy talk is that. She probably didn't even know what you

you pretty much did.

I beg to differ. If you correctly judged her character, you wouldn't be in this
situation.

DVD players are $40. You could have saved yourself $460.I don't like to rip people off. I 'charge' what I think is fair. Iwasn't doing any great "building from scratch", I was installingWindows on a pre-built system and delivering it. Hardly rocketscience, and hardly worth charging more than a pittance for. You don'tagree with that assessment - fair enough.

All I was saying is that if you wanted a DVD player, for $40 you could have had
one. You chose to float a $500 loan for a free DVD, and got burned on the whole
deal. The DVD player ended up costing you $500.

Which courts...other countries? not here, i know. everyday i see
hearings. at this point you must take a lesson from the school of hard
knocks. and always adhere to the adage 'screw me once - shame on you;
screw me twice - shame on me!!!! you are probably a nice young man.
gullible, but nice. at this very time, there is a few thousand folk in
Detroit City alone at the casinos losing $500 or more.
your kind of loss is the most irritating, the loss of cash is second to
the breech of trust.
