Good point, Kathy1. I think some people actually think they are making a big
social difference engaging in circular debates (fights) that last years on
usenet. I suspect some stay for the adrenaline rush that can come from heated
agrument/debate. Some might actually come because they feel connected in a
friendship way to other regulars. Some might "act out" here as a way of venting
in a manner they really are not allowed IRL. Some might be sorting through
personal issues as they read, write and argue. There could be many more reasons
and many combinations of reasons.
