Has anybody been rejected by adoption agencies in the UK for religious
or political reasons? The rules on this seem to change with each
agency and there appear to be no guidelines.

Would that be a genuine question from someone trying to adopt or are you a
News International journalist fishing for a story?

Note, there are no rules or guidelines covering the whole of the UK, each
jurisdiction in Britain has its own adoption act, are you trying to adopt in
'England & Wales' or in Scotland or in Northern Ireland? Also of course each
local authority and adoption agency has some flexibility regarding its
internal policies. You would have ask each local authority, currently in
England they have to review their policy every three years. Everything will
change soon when the Adoption and Children Act 2002 comes into force, but
many of the rules and regulations arising there from have not yet even been
put forward for consultation.
