View Full Version : Preference payments

We received copies of letters sent to two of our creditors asking for $2000
and $600 respectively to be distributed among the other creditors since we
paid them (not intentionally) as a preference to get them off our backs
(they were calling daily). My lawyer called my husband and asked what we
wanted to do about this. What is she asking? My thought is that we don't
need to DO anything? My husband leaves all the paperwork and legal stuff to
me but I happened to not be available at the time. Anyway, my lawyer is not
available until 1/22 and I can't get past the paralegal answering the phone
to talk to anyone else as he says I can just wait until she gets back as
it's NOT time sensitive. Any ideas? Is this bad?

TIA

I should add that these letters were from the trustee to the creditors...

You don't need to do anything. This won't affect your discharge, and is the
problem of the creditors you paid.
