"Validating" a debt under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
basically consists of the collector asking its client, "Do you
owe the debt?" They say "Yes," and the debt is "validated."
It's useless.

Trying to figure out if we validate with Chase will they be able
to come up with sufficient proof of debt. Some of the balance was
from providian. My husband say Chase bought out Providian and
took over the balance. He also transfered a few other balances
to the card but he can't remember which ones. If we go the
validation route will they be able to validate. Do they really
have access to all the records from the other creditors? What
kind of proof would be enough to prove he owes the balance. I
personally don't think Balance transfer is enough without
statements from prior creditors. But I don't know what the laws
are here in CA. This is a very high balance card, about
$23,000+.
On another note these CA people have been a real problem trying
to pay. First we made tele check agreement. When I found out
they lied to me about owning the balance I called Chase and put a
stop on the the check until I received something in the mail
regarding the payment agreement. They tried to put the check
through when it was stopped and it came back as a NSF. When I
receive the documents re: payment I released the stop and told
them to proceed. Now they say they won't take my CHECK! I have
to go to Western Union and wire the money. I have a bad feeling
if I wire the money, they will then put the check through and
ding me twice! Should I not Western Union the money and force
them to re-run the check. Geez, it they really wanted the money
they wouldn't play these games, just cash the ck already. I
don't want to do Western Union anyway. What can I do? Chase
doesn't want to deal with it, they said the CA is handling all of
it. Should I complain AGAIN to Chase? I'm sure we have other
past due creditor who would gladly take the $$$.$$ payment
Any info will be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance
