i have a legal bill that i dispute the amount of and am thinking of declaring bankruptcy. my former lawyers claim it is $250,000, but i don't think it should be more than $20,000. my question is, if i file for bankruptcy, do i have to put a specific amount down for this debt? the problem i see is that, if i put down $20,000, they could claim i am not representing my debts accurately. however, if i put down $250,000, the lawyers might be able to claim that i am affirming the amount of the debt (if it doesn't get discharged this could hurt me very badly). any safe way to take care of this?

On the schedules listing your debt indicate that the debt is disputed,
unliquidated and/or contingent.
