View Full Version : Balances showing in my credit reports during/after CH 13 bk

I recently completed payments on my CH 13 BK,though I have yet to
receive an
official discharge(The last payment was made In June).
Out of curiosity I looked up my credit report with all 3 major
bureaus..and to my surprise many of the accounts I listed in my filing
are still showing balances as "delinquent"or "for collection"..and
with recent reported dates.
Some show up in just one of the credit bureaus reports;some on all
3...And some
show reporting dates as 2004!..The reports show that at least 1/3 of
the amount I was supposed to have discharged as the result of my
filing as still open;thus
giving me a very low FICO score.
My question is: Should I wait to receive my official discharge from
the Court
so that I can write the Bureaus and point out the indiscrepancy?
I was thinking that maybe there is some type of time lag here..that
maybe
those individual creditors that show in my credit reports with open
balances
just haven't been contacted yet to accept the bankruptcy, discharge or
whatever
is needed to clear up that balance shown. Most of the other accounts do
show as
"bankruptcy"or "settled under Bankruptcy".Etc.
Thank You For Any Informative Reply

You do need to wait for your official discharge letter. Your court may
simply be backed up in sending them out. Without that, basically it's
just your word that your Chapter 13 is completed successfully.

It also will take a few months for your creditors to report correctly
to the bureaus. Some do it right away, and others drag their heels.
With the latter, once you have your discharge notification you can
dispute the incorrect entries with the bureaus.

If you don't belong to PACER, you can sign up and for a small fee
access the most important papers pertaining to your case. That site
has proved invaluable to me for following my case, proving that
creditors received notices etc. You can save the info to disk and/or
print it out. I believe not all states belong to this service yet,
but it's worth a try. That way you will know where you stand and the
latest action done.

Unfortunately, getting your scores raised can be a tediously long
process. But you do need your discharge to really have something to
back you up.

Good Luck.
