Hope this isn't a silly novice question, but can a spouse be protected
from filing bankruptcy if most of the debt in question was created by
their mate mostly before their marriage? The woman in question was
married only two years before the filing, her husband had previously
accrued a ton of school debt, had a car accident where he was found
liable and had to settle, and also rang up some bad online trading
debt. All his. The only financial issues they shared were a house they
bought together a couple of years before marrying, two credit cards
(not overlimit) and a checking acct. Should she have had to sign with
him, or could there have been a "separation" of the debt so somehow
she could've stayed clean. They live in FL. Please post responses here
- any info appreciated!
