What kind of statements does one put in their credit report to explain their
bankruptcy.

In my case, it was largely due to unexpected unemployment.

Others may be hit with an unexpected illness.

Do lenders and landlords look at these statements or do they only get the
FICO score?

Just the score, if you want to explain, you have to explain, when applying
for rent or credit or whatever it may be

It is my experience that putting a statement in a credit report is nothing
more than a waste of time. No one if anybody reads credit reports. It may
make you feel good but that is about all.
