I believe I will be filing Chapter7 - hospital bills (heart by-pass one year
ago and 6 months ago gall bladder removal)- collectors are circling up, my
wife passed on in April and we didn't live together at the time - but she
left some bills also. Is it wise for me to put her bills on as my debts
also?

Walt:

Unless you are jointly responsible on her bills, you can't; an
estate cannot file for bankruptcy (though it can receive a
discharge if the debtor dies during the case). In fact, unless
your wife has some assets in her individual name, a letter to her
creditors stating that she passed away, left no assets, and no
estate was opened should result in their closing their files.
