I work for a medical tranport company in Kentucky. They send me to a city 1 - 2 hours away and I have to wait on the patient to complete their tests, doctor's visit, dyalisis, etc. which could be up to 4 or 5 hours wait. When I first went to work they said I would take a 30 minute lunch break. Now they are scheduling 2 hour breaks without pay while I sit in their vehicle and wait on their patient. Is this legal?

My interpretation of the FLSA would be no, this would not legal. You are "working" while you are waiting for the patient, although they can require the 30-minute meal period be deducted from that time. I believe the DOL would consider this "engaged to be waiting" which is compensable.
