Hi there,

I've been travelling for work lately and wonder what the per diem rates are for the various states I'm travelling to. I work for a non-profit that doesn't seem very up on current policy.

Also, when I use my own car to travel, what is the per mile rate I can expect to be reimbursed?

The information I've found online seems to be for federal employees only.

Thank you!
Talulah

There are no government-issued per diem rates for private industry. It's whatever your organization chooses to set.

Many organizations use the IRS mileage reimbursement rate for when employees use their own cars for business travel. It's currently 44.5 cents per mile. If your organization reimburses less than that, you may be able to deduct the difference as a non-reimburseable business expense.

And if you are paid more than that, the excess is taxable wages on your W-2 form.
