 Ok I am going to try to make a long story short. A couple of months ago one of the guys in the office brushe my rear end and I knew it was an accident and he said he was sorry my boss who we share an office with said "you lucky dog", I was stunned and did'nt know what to say, so I said nothing. Then a couple of weeks ago my grandmother passed and when I went to tell him that I needed to get any pressing work done because I wanted to go to her funeral 2 states away he said you work less then anyone I know,(Name & Name deleted for privacy) work 60 hours a week" and proceeded to berate me for not working more then 45 hours a week. I am at my wits end and I am not sure if there is anything that I can do, I went to our HR department and they said they would talk to him and he has continued to be rude and hostile. is there anything I can do??
Nothing you have posted gives you any kind of legal recourse. A single stupid comment does not constitute illegal harassment; nor does stating his opinion on the number of hours he thinks you should be working.
A hostile work environment has a very specific meaning under the law and what you have posted does not meet it. It is not illegal for him to be rude.

He did send me an email that said that my salary was based on an entry level position plus about 5 hours of overtime, an he expected me to be there for at least that. He has also told me to call the IT guy because since I am a woman he will respond to us faster.

And maybe they will respond faster. :)

Still not illegal. It may be insensitive to address your work hours just after finding out your grandmother passed away, but sensitivity and tack aren't required by law.

Conflicts of intrest are legal in the work place as far as i can tell. Unless its based on a pre text of a protected class. Or severe enought to constitue a tort is my understandind.
