Is an employer required to pay commissions to someone that have voluntarily lefft?

What rights does an employer have to collect money owed from an employee that has been terminated (a promissory note was signed)

Well, joe916, considering the fact that this was posted in the Florida forum, I'm assuming Florida.

Commissions are a side agreement in Florida, plus the fact that the only remedy in your state for nonpayment of wages and other compensation you feel may be due you is either the federal Dept. of Labor (which enforces payment only to the extent of minimum wage) or a civil suit.

Conversely, if you fail to perform on the promissory note, they can sue you for that.
