So, no, it is not. mitousmom 05-08-2006, 06:34 AM The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits employers from discriminating against individuals with qualified disabilities, does have an "Relationship or Association With an Individual With a Disability" provision which prohibits an employer from discriminating against an individual because of that individual's relationship with someone who is disabled. You should contact EEOC, the lead federal agency, for furher information. They have a Contact Center to provide information. The number is 1-800-669-4000; you can email them at info@ask.eeoc.gov; and their website is www.eeoc.gov. mindbodyspirit 05-08-2006, 06:35 AM I'm new to the forum so I hope I am posting in the right place. My employment was terminated last Wednesday. Up until I had opposed harassment practices in my workplace I was deemed a stellar performer. The Vice President of the Company and my husband (also an employee of the Company were sharing pornography via the Company e-mail system. I happened to find out about it one month ago when the Vice President called my home and asked me to go into my husband's private mailbox and resend an e-mail to him that he had accidentally deleted. Thinking it was work related and knowing my husband's password I went into the mailbox to retrieve the e-mail in question. To my absolute horror it was a picture of a renowned actress with her genitals exposed. I did not send the e-mail but confronted my husband and then our Vice President about it. Things got really bad after that and I was constantly criticized for my performance. Eventually he fired me and my husband. I have never had any disciplinary action, verbal or written and there was no reason for my dismissal. Is this sexual harassment and can I report this? Marketeer 05-08-2006, 06:50 AM To mindbodyspirit, the right place to post this would be to start your own thread rather than to piggyback on someone else's. If you feel that you were terminated for complaining about this behaviour, your recourse is to contact the EEOC. mindbodyspirit 05-08-2006, 06:56 AM Thanks for your reply. I apologize but I am new to the forum so now I know. |
