I am a temporary worker working for an automotive casting plant in kentucky. Today we went into work and didn't have any power they sent us home after one hour my question is as a temp do we get paid for 4 hours like the perminent workers?

I could not find any law requiring reporting time pay in your state at all. Assuming this is the case, they could treat the temporary employees differently from the regular employees and, to be honest, that would make sense. Temporary employees are normally hired to "fill a gap" temporarily and if work is not available, there is really no reason to pay.

cbg can correct me if her sources show something different.

They do not. KY law does not require reporting time pay for any employees; full time, part time, temporary or permanent.

There are really very few states that require reporting time pay.

now where i work temps aren't just to fill in that is how they hire you have to go through a temporary work agency to be hired there. i am suppose to be going perminent this month hopefully.

Ah, good luck. Then, the next time this happens, you'll get the reporting time pay, too. :)

ok thnx well the other question i have is and im not sure if it fits in this or not i don't think it really does but last orientation there was a group interview with 27 and they were only hiring 19 my question is how can they hire someone who has less time in and is trained on less equipment than someone that has been there 5 plus months as a temp and they only been there 3 1/2 months but they are also gettin gifts brought into work to them from a supervisor and many employess have witness this supervisor giving said employee shoulder rubs and making plans for dates? there was 5 or six employees passed over that had been there longer than her and trained on more machines.

That we wouldn't know. There is no law addressing this situation.
