My best friend accepted a maintence director position 4 months ago. Since then he has recieved one performance evaluation and was near perfect. He works with geriatrics and has several years of experience with this population. Approx a month ago a new executive director joined their team and expectations were put forth. The activties director was called into the directors office for several things that were brought to her attention. The activities director blamed this on my friend and then realized it was not him who squeeled. Next the activities director tried to get the light off of her (exact quote) and tried getting my friend in trouble for something in which the director talked to him about and he did not do. The director, at that point realized what she was doing and stated this to my friend. That day the activities director confronted my friend and he gave her the cold shoulder. He stated that she was upset because someone did that to her and here she is doing the samething. That day she went to the director and did a sexual harrassment complaint on him. A week prior all the girls were in the break room and everyone was joking and the activities director said that she wished she met a stranger after work and my friend stated how about me and everyone laughed including her and she said ok. My friend was suspended , but before he was suspended he wanted to put a complaint himself. 2 weeks prior there was a sexual harrassment inservice and after the inservice she grabbed his butt and stated I cannot believe I did that right after the inservice. There was an eyewittness. He was suspended for 3 days and then terminated. The director and HR insisted a thourough investigation was performed but the activities director still has her job and the eyewitness was never questioned.. Gender Discrimination???? Sorry so long!!!!

Let me see if I understand you. Your friend logded a SH complaint after the fact regarding something that happened weeks before after being disciplined for an inappropriate comment to the Director as retaliation for being blamed for soemthing work related he didn't feel was fair. I'm sorry but I don't see how this is in any way gender discrimination. His comment was out of line nad if anytime an employee reports something right after a work conflict and having been disciplined, it casts a bit of doubt on the validity. How do you know the company didn't look into his allegations? While grabbing him wasn't in any way approrpiate, he needed to report it at the time, not weeks later and after getting in trouble himself. In either case, there is no obligation to treat the director the same a more junior level employee, particularly one who is in trouble for some other reason on top of it.
