Hi :)

I work in Kentucky for a large national company. Other employees at the company have been having problems for quite a while with their paychecks being wrong. Being wrong (didn't include overtime pay or shift differential) Late, where normally we are suppose to get paid on Thursday, we might not receive check until Monday or later. We get paid weekly and recently the person in payroll has made a mistake of paying us for two weeks instead of one which resulted in more income tax being taken out and making our wages less for the two week period of around $35.00. Are there any laws regarding paychecks arriving late or being paid at a two week rate rather than the one week rate which results in less money being made due to an increase in taxes?

Thanks in advance.

You can talk to the KY DOL about this.

And not that I have any additional advice, but I just have to say, as a payroll manager for a number of years, I would have fired that payroll clerk. And where was the supervisor or other person that should have checked the payroll before it was paid? Sheesh.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. Pattymd, from what I hear the person that was training her was the person who had been making mistakes all along. I would think that when a new person starts an important job like payroll, someone should go after her and check what she/he is doing.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this or if you have any answers but the place I work for has in a handbook that seniority counts. I have been working there for almost a year and I feel like I have been passed over by someone who came in months after me. I am very good at the job that I do and very reliable and it makes me wonder if I am being stuck in the job that I'm doing and not being allowed to advance. Any advice concerning this would be helpful. Thanks again :)

Seniority may COUNT, but unless it says that promotion will be made STRICTLY by seniority, they are free to promote as they please.
