We live on 12 1/2 acres in Alabama. The house my husband and I live in was built by himself, his parents and grandparents almost 20 years ago. The property has a suvivorship deed on it. The deed has my husbands grandfather, grandmother, and father on it. My husbands father and grandmother had passed away. We are wondering if my husband has any legal rights to the property as of now. We are assuming my husbands father's portion of the property went to my husbands mother. I guess my question is: Will my husband and I have a portion of the property after his grandfather passes? Please reply soon.

You should take the deed to a local attorney for review, because this depends on how the deed was drafted.

Thanks. My mother-in-law has payed to have the deed re-written so my husband and I have rights to the property.
