Okay, I live with another student, but I am not on her lease. We do however have a contract with each other and I am only living with her for the school year. With that said things with her have been downhill from the beg. starting with her old roommate still being there after I came, even though she said she would be gone, I had to pay her roommate to leave and me and the current roommate have had minor issues since then. Now it is the end of the school year and I'm leaving on May 6th. I was under the impression that since I was only here for the school year that all I had to pay was the six days of the month of may that I am there, but she says that I am obligated to pay all of may. Can anyone please let me know if she can take me to court for this, especially since our contract has no formal date of lease term just an email she sent me saying the school year. This in in Georgia

Do you have a contract with her if it is an email? Basically, unable to answer because you are in a position where she can make it up as it goes along. I suggest that you get a mutual release signed in writing, pay up for May and be done with it so she wont try to make you pay for the summer. I suggest you ask her to sign this when you pay for May and move out. I also suggest you consult a local attorney about the mutual release to make sure it will be full proof.
