We are in Louisiana My daughter worked full time at a large electronic outlet store for almost a year. They concidered 32 hours full time empoyee she had insurance and retirement. They decided to cut her back to part time, don't know how many hours she will get now. Do they have to lay her off and then rehire her, Does she have any recourse at all.

No, nothing in the law requires them to lay her off and rehire her. They may if they wish; they are not required to.

Nothing you have posted gives her any legal recourse. Unless she has a bona fide, legally enforceable contract that specifically guarantees her full time work for the duration of her employment, they may legally cut her back to part time any time they feel it necessary.

OK thank CBG. How about a couple more question. If she has sick days and personal time left they said she will lose it. Is it a total loss to or can she do something about it. Also she found out that the company has a full time opening for her spot, the manager told some employee's but did not tell her about. One of the supervisiors has applied for. Should the company have posted that job opening for every one to see not select few.

I'm not aware of any state that requires the payout or rollover of unused sick or personal time. Vacation time, yes; sick and personal time, no.

The company is not required by law to post openings.
