I have an ex-girlfriend that wants to move out and we both want that to happen. In Colorado how do we do that if the landlord is resisting. I could move in another room mate but dont want to do that and can afford the rent alone. My ex heard about a "friends and family" law or statute that may allow room mates the avanue for this. Anyone know anything about it?

No. Landlord only cares that landlord gets paid rent and has approval over tenants if lease allows for that. If one moves out and all rent owed is paid, that is ok, but otherwise you have a personal problem and expecting a break on the lease is your problem. IF there is a new tenant to replce the roommate that the landlord approves if landlord approval is needed, then problem resolved. YOu need to reread your lease. That should be able to answer your questions.
