I feel as though my job in the local school system was taken from me. Here is my story. I taught in the local school system for three years and was then pink slipped(laid off). I was then called back to the school I taught at the prior year. The principal told me that site based and herself wanted me to teach Kindergarten. I had five boxes of my own material ready to go. At the last minute teachers started calling me and telling me the superintendent had given the job to her cousin. I have been outraged to say the least!!! I was then hired in a position that was to pay the same between 2 schools, needless to say that wasn't true, my salary was about 7,000 lower. I resigned and got out of the school system but the school yr. had already started and I didn't find a teaching job this school year. I also didn't apply for other jobs that was open at the time in different counties because I thought I had the job! When a principla stands up and shales your hand and says welcome back-you think the job is yours! Outraged in KY! IS this legal?

Sorry, but yes it is. I agree it was unfair, but unless you had a bona fide contract guaranteeing employment, the superintendent was free to offer the job elsewhere.
