my names lolly
im 17
i live with my friends parents in north carolina
my mom lives in texas
my dad lives in texas

first i guess i will try to better explain my situation. when i was 15 i moved here, i originaly came just to visit my friends like i did every summer but i ended up staying. my parents split when i was 12, my mom left my dad because he was verbally abusive and sexually abusive in some aspects to me when my mom wasnt around, after we left i told her everything. my mom started dating before we actually left my dad and her boyfriend that she dated became an alchoholic. he would hit my and my mom and whenever i would call the police she would always try to make it sound like i was over reacting because she loved him or didnt want to make him any more mad, but the police did show up several times. i was raped by her boyfriends son and when i told her about it she didnt do anything legally because it was her boyfriends son. i came here the summer after my freshman year to visit and ended up being allowed to stay because i had been through so much. i am now a junior, doing great in school. my mom is trying to make me move back to texas because her and her boyfriend FINALLY split up "for good" like she says. the people i am living with are about to get a divorce and i have no place to go. i want to graduate from the school i am at. i have a job. i have places to stay. my mom is trying to make me move back and i dont want to because all she ever does is ruin anything good i have.

i need help please. emancipation? is that the only way?

Here is a good link that explains emancipation and youth rights and responsibilities in NC in plain, understandable terms.

go to page 49. Hope this helps :)
