Hi;
try to keep story brief. work in a non profit university medical school center as a nurse manager. Had to "share" office request recently for temp. administrative
business manger. I was informed verbally to remove some of my personal things to make room for this administrative person. Over the course of week,, she threw away some benign articles of mine, but during a holiday break, she remove all my work related items from the desk the cork board and also removed, rearranged and redid my book shelf and my "personal" items such as photos of my kids, my nic-nac and such, professional books -- all without any discussion or written request etc. Calle my HR and they said there are no policys for that even if done in unprofessional manner. Are there any laws, rules etc. that protect me form such a professional indiscretion, invasion and absolute disregard/direspect.???? I feel as this needs further effort.
thanks for all info...!!!!!!!!!!

Unless she actually threw away your personal belongings and they were not recoverable, you have no damages. HR has obviously decided not to bring this up with the other employee, probably figuring you are both adults and should be able to work it out between you. To be honest, I think you are blowing this WAY out of proportion. Just talk to her.

No, there are not. Nor are there any laws that guarantee you the right to have personal items in your work space at all.
