I am interested in pursuing a home based business to sell prepared meals to a few people for the start. It has a welfare motive in that I wish to target elderly people and those in need such as single mothers who could benefit from healthy, wholesome meals delivered to them. Could someone please let me know what the law is in MD in this regard. Thank you.

Agree on the business law forum idea. I know a small amount about selling food in MD, but your question is a bit broad to answer. You really need to speak to a business attorney about getting a business established. There are additional considerations if you wish to run a commercial food establishment from your home. It isn't terribly difficult but there are certain codes your kitchen must meet and permits that must be obtained.
