I work at a drug store in NYC, and recently we got this store detective that treats us as if we are stealing. I mean he looks at us more then the customers. One day I worked when he was there he kept asking where i was, checking under my register when i leave but when he saw me he said nothing to me. Another incident that same day he comes with the manager to count my register out as if im stealing. Then the manager says that its a spot check, they have to do it every 30 minutes (when they never did that before), and they didnt do that to anyone that whole day. The next time they did it was about a week later. Then when im leaving he want to check everything pocket in my bag and checked my coat pocket. I feel like a criminal at work. I been there for over a year if i wanted to steal i would have done it already. Then now, he puts up this new rule of if we have anything that belongs to the store (a product that they sell) without a reciept we get a write up. I dont think that is fair because alot of items they sell other stores sell as well. But, he's always coming to me saying the same thing. I was upset at first, but now im taking it as a joke because i dont want to stress myself out. I never heard of a "LP" to handle money, go in the office whenever they feel and stay in there when the manager is not there, and count out the register as if he is the store manager. My boyfriend says i can take him to court because how he is treating me (as if next he want to do a strip search) but im not sure if I can.

You can try taking him to court but as no laws are being violated, you wouldn't get very far. You can try speaking to the manager about it but again, as this isn't illegal at all, the manager isn't required to make it stop. He or she may if they feel it is a poor management practice, but that is their call.

Well, if he does attempt to do a strip search, I expect you'd could bring criminal charges. After all, this LP person is not the police. However nothing he is doing is illegal. He may be doing his job very aggressively but then you have no idea what directions he's been given by senior store management or corporate headquarters.
You may not have stolen so much as a stick of gum but that doesn't mean co-workers aren't robbing the store blind and unfortunately that puts everyone under suspicion.

Yes, I undertsand what you are saying but he acts like he is the police. Like he is doing an investigation. Such as one example the store manager gives me to much change i go to give it back to him and he tells me to give it to him later when i leave. Later on this LP guy comes in and he is sceptical of why I am over $14 exactly on the register, like if I took out some money. He tells the manager to call the store manager to verify that he gave me to much money even though I explained what happened. I feel like he wants to get me fired. Like I heard that they sent him to our store to get ride of employees that were there for a while and let in room for new employees. But, its also a little rascism in it to being that he is spanish. He doesnt really treat the Indian employees like how he treat the black employees like prime suspect. Oh yeah I never heard of an LP being able to touch money. The last LP we had didnt touch the money or go in the office like this guy last LP focused more on the customers then on the employees. The store manager even made a comment about how this guy stay in the office on the cameras its like this guy is the store manager on the low. How is he kicking the security guard out saying "get out of MY STORE",
