I have a 19 year old daughter that I have raised myself since she was 4. The child support order (in the divorce decree) was for $250.00 a month + half any medical expences. At the time of my daughters 18th birthday my ex owed over 11k in CS (not including med payments). After initiating a case with the county (Dekalb, GA) CS collection agency over two years ago, it's come to the point where (according to the county court) I am to recieve $11 and change per week from my ex based on the fact that "the case is in arrearage."
When I initiated this with the county CS collection agency, they said she would be paying $300 per month until the total [43K (CS + interest)] would be paid. At $50.00 per month, I will be long dead when my long dead ex wife comes even close to fulfilling her shunned financial responsibility for our child.
Is it really the law that if you're a deadbeat long enough, you get this insane "immunity"?!!!
