I was just informed that I was being laid off with several other employees, the company is having financial difficulties and had to cut haldf of its staff. We have also been told that we are not being paid for our unused vacation/sick/personal time. I know it isnt required by law to give vacation/sick/personal time to employees; they are considered "fringe benefits", but if you have them as part of your employment agreement, and there is nothing specifically worded to that in the employee handbook, if they let you go, are they responsible to pay you for the time you havent been able to use year to date??

Connecticut law only requires such payment if the company policy provides for the payment at termination. This appears not to apply if the company policy is silent on the issue.
