My husband works for a cable company in Louisville Ky. the company provides him with a truck to drive from job to job but he can not drive the vehicle home. The companymakes him pay for the gas in the company vehicle and does NOT compensate him in any way for the gas. My question is can the company legally do this? Everyother company i have ever heard of where the employee drives a company vehicle, the company pays for the gas or if they do not they compensate for the gas. Please advise! Thank you

It would only make sense for them to, but there is no law in Kentucky requiring them to do so. However, he may be able to deduct unreimbursed business expenses as an itemized deduction on his 1040, so he should keep records/receipts of all such unreimbursed business expenses.
