I am a manager of a retail store in Oregon. I have an employee with some attendance issues who claims that OR requires there to be 8 hours scheduled between shifts. I have been unable to find any such information at Oregon's website or on any labor posters that we have. Is she correct? What I have discovered is that I can "schedule" employees for any length of time as long as the appropriate meal and rest breaks are observed. Thus, it would seem unlikely that there would be a between shift minimum. (?) Please advise.

Also, if there is a link that can be provided one way or the other it would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is not. However, the problem is that the law does not specify what does not exist, only what does exist. What I have done in the past is tell the person "I'm sorry, I don't have that law. Can you print it out for me or give me a link to it on the Internet? At that time, I would be more than happy to review it." In 28 years in my profession, I haven't had any one be able to do it. ;)
