I posted that I need help with a DMV list for state of oregon .
I said that I was looking for the years of 1985 through 1997.
I made a mistake I need 1985 to 1987. My son would have been sixteen
through eighteen. I know he was adopted in oregon , so that would be
his first drivers lisence. Thank you Sarah

Subject: Re: Roll Call

Hi Everyone,
Thought I would repost what I have to date on my search. This a little
be long so please bare with me. I sure hope that someone reconizes at
least something or who I am searching for. Here it goes.... I was born
in Richlands, Virginia at Clinch Valley Clinic on June 16, 1961. The
Delivering doctor was Dr. R.E. Bower. I was given the name of Bernice
Ann Johnson at Birth. My B/Mother`s name is Effie L. Johnson and was
23
years old ?? at the time of my birth. My B/Fathers name is Harry
S.
Johnson and he was 24 years old ?? at the time of my birth. I am very
sure that the ages of my b/parents have been altered. I have my B/moms
medical record number. I can`t get these records because I do not have

a
SSN to give them on her. I was born Premature but it is not stated how
premature I was born. I weighed 5 lbs 3/4 oz at birth and when I left
the hospital on June 18,1961 I only weighed 4 lbs. 13 oz.It states
that
parents were advised as to risks of taking baby. I was born at 7:25
A.M.
at Clinch Valley Clinic in Richlands Virginia on June 16,
1961. My Birth mother Effie was in Room B16 after my birth. It does
not
State on my birth records my length at birth. It also state that my
anormalies were premature. It also states on the b/cert that I was a
single birth. There is no Address of where my B/parents were living at
the time of my birth. It Just says they lived in the city. Now on my
Amended Birth Certificate from Virginia it has my A/parents listed as
my
parents and it states that I was born in Tazewell County, Richlands
Virginia. The B/cert Number is State Birth Number : 145-61-XXXXXX
Certificate Number is: 630
Now on Adoption:
I was brought to Charleston WV on December 12, 1961 to be placed with
my
A/parents. I was brought here by Harry S and Effie L Johnson. It
states
on the Consent to Adopt Form that Harry S Johnson being of the age of
24
years old and Effie L Johnson being the age of 23 years old and being
the parents of Bernice Ann Johnson age 6 months give our consent to
adoption of Bernice Ann Johnson to Carl R. Norris and Emma J. Norris
of
Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia. In the adoption papers I
have
which are the original copy to the Adoptive Parents it states that
Harry
S and Effie L Johnson were the Parents and that I was born in Wedlock
on
June 16, 1961. The Court Case numberis 397-A. The adoption was a
private
adoption. The lawyer that represented my Adoptive Parents was Wibur C
Frame. And the Judge was Herbert Richardson. It states that the
adoption
was Finalized on June 21, 1962 in Kanawha County Charleston West
Virginia. And That my name was to be changed to Bernice Ann Norris.
Which shows that my First and Middle name was not changed. Now I also
have another Birth Certificate that is issued in the State of West
Virginia which I do not completely understand how this could be but
here
is what it has on it:
Birth Certificate Number: 147-XXXXX
I do know that the Lawyer and Judge are deceased. Now the story that
has
been told to me by my A/Mother which is deceased and A/family is that
They had recieved a phone call about a baby that was going to be put
up
for adoption on December 12, 1961 and was asked if she was interested
in
taking this baby. Well being my A/Mother could not have children of
her
own she said yes she was and got ready to go to Charleston to get me.
She was taken to Charleston by my A/Fathers Mother and Father to pick
me
up. When they had got there they met at a hotel in Charleston with
Harry
and Effie to make the arrangements. They left the Hotel to go to a
Lawyers Office that was right down the street from this Hotel and
walked
in the lawyers office and had to Consent to Adopt drawn up. Now in the
meantime my A/Father did not know about me and was not the one to sign
the Consent. I was told that my A/GrandFather was the one to sign in
his
place. After the papers were signed they went back to the Hotel to get
what belongings I had. After that they went to the Greyhound bus
station
so Harry and Effie could leave and there was money exchanged. I do not
know how much
was involved. I have also been told by my A/Mother and other family
members that the reason I was put up for adoption is that they could
not
afford to keep me and that they had one other son prior to me that was
being raised by a B/Grandparent. And that there were also possible
sisters. And that my Brother was supposed to be 2 years older than me.
This is about all I know at this time.

Hi Greta,

I think you should gather other parents from the area, and place
an
ad. Chip in, and place an ad, encourage other adoptees and
birthparents to sign up on the registry. There maybe adoptees that
can’t find in
spite of getting information. So they might want to join and help pay
for part of the ad.

Plus, put,

up a free excite.com addr. For the ad.

Sincerely,

Joan

is
taking so long? I've been a member of this list for quite some time &

I used to be able to chat. If I'm not accepted to chat, then ok, I'd
just like to know. But if there is a problem that I can help resolve,
I

I know exactly what you are going through with your daughter, and how
stressful it is at times having a chronically ill child. I have been
dealing with my son who has several different syndromes and is getting

ready to have surgery number 29 in a few weeks. I have lost track of
the
doctors who have told me to find my family history so we can maybe
figure out what else we have to face but like I told them, I don't
have the
money or time to do a lot of searching with a child who needs a lot of

attention, and a terminally ill father. I can tell you this though,
register with all the post you can find, and keep posting when you
can.
I haven't found my bfamily yet but have gotten a lot of angels on line

helping me look.

I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers along with my
searching
angels.

have
very little information to go on though I have followed all of the
traditional search steps. My biggest reason for searching is that I
really
need my medical history. My 11 year old daughter is chronically ill
and
it may shed some light on some of her problems. She has Chronic Lyme
disease, fibromyalgia, CFIDS, heart and lung problems, and
hypoglycemia.
She spent six months in a wheelchair last year due to these
conditions.
Now they have found problems with her spine for which they have no
answers.

I have plenty of other reasons for wanting to find but that is my
first
priority.

I was born 6/21/68 in Philadelphia, PA. I was born at approximately
1:30am and was 8lbs 1 oz. My adoption was handled privately by
attorney
Marvin Lundy. I was adopted by a Jewish couple from NJ. My a-mom was a

school teacher. My non-id states that my b-mother was single and 24 at

the time of my birth. My b-grandfather died at age 59. My b-father was

not listed. My a-mom remembers something being mentioned about
Bristol.
Possibly that my b-mom was from there? I was dropped off to my
a-parents
in the back parking lot of a hotel. My a-parents were asked to pay
cash
in advance of my delivery. My a-mom was told that my b-father was a
truck driver and that my b-mom's family did not approve of the
relationship. How much of what she was told being true,. I do not
know. My
b-mother's dob and social security number was not in the
paperwork...only
that she was 24. When the court searcher sent to the last known
address,
the letter was returned. She tried to obtain her social security info
and
was told that my b-mom was not in their records as having worked for

the last 3 years and therefore couldn't be traced that way.

I have registered with all of the pa registies as well as the wwr and
isrr. I have a copy of my adoption decree (which simply states that my

adoption was finalized on 7/25/69). I have posted anyplace I have
found
on the net. I cannot afford to hire a searcher. I have very little
time
to put into searching as caring for my daughter takes so much of my
time. Anyone that has any further ideas, please share them. I would
really
appreciate any help.

Thanks

the
adoptee signs up. Most people just don’t know to sign up.
Plus encourage the birthparents to update medical.!!!!

Hi, Can you unite with other birthparents, and put an ad in the
newspapers.
Or see if someone will put a human interest story, about how Oregon is

open,
however, if the adoptees don't sign up, the birthparents can't contact

them.
Joan

I posted that I need help with a DMV list for state of oregon .
I said that I was looking for the years of 1985 through 1997.
I made a mistake I need 1985 to 1987. My son would have been sixteen
through eighteen. I know he was adopted in oregon , so that would be
his first drivers lisence. Thank you Sarah

Joan , You know what is weird is that , oregon passed measure 58 , I
think
1997 , I sat back thinking my son would contact me. I just got started

last
year searching him again. My biggest fear was that he wouldn't want to

see
me , maybe he wasn't told he was adopted , and my worst thought he is
dead.
I was going to adopt my three boys to protect them from their abusive
father
, but I left their father , and tried to get Michael back , but I was
told I
couldn't. Oregon being an oen state is for adoptee's only , what I
mean
is
that the adoptee can get his original birth certificate , at a cost of
15.00, takes about six weeks. but being the birth mom , I would have
to
give
them 400.00 , and they would try to find him , and if he didn't want
contact
, I get nothing , no name , all I would know is that he was alive.
thanks
Sarah

Hello every one , I want to share whats on my mind. I spend a great
deal of time thinking. You know I'm a mother searching for her
child , I relingished him when he was three years old. Why is it that
I and many other mothers can't locate their children , when we signed
the papers , I feel when we choose to have contact we should be able.
Our child had nothing to do with our decision , nor signing papers ,
now if the child was taken away from the parent , because of danger
to the child , I might understand , why the need to prtect them , but
then again , people change , it seems as though , these adoption
agencys , don't really understand how we think or feel , the need to
find our child , what do they think we are going to do , we are
searching because we love them , if we didn't search we wouldn't give
a darn. I feel a lot of guilt for signing my son away , there hasn't
been a time I haven't felt that. I tryed to get him back a week
later , they slamed the door in my face , they put another guilt trip
on me , saying why would you want to get him back , he's in a good
home , and the people that have him wanted him so. and yes anger I
have felt , I had three boys at the time they took michael my middle
son , because they had a placement for him , they told me they would
contact me when they had other placements for my other sons. after
trying to get michael back they had the nerve to call and say that
they had a placement for david my youngest , angry yes , well of
course they didn't get my other children. I called them from time to
time . So I have waited till my son turned 18 or 21 depending on the
state laws , I was so sure my son would find me , well he is 34 now ,
I have been waiting and searching. My son is an adult now , not a
baby , I want more than any thing to find my son , why can't these
adoption agencys feel the pain in our hearts , haven't we paid long
enough , please set us all free , give our babys back , we love
them , and so far that is one thing you where not able to take from
us. what more do you think you will get from me , you made money on
my son once , and now you expect money from me , I guess you got a
hold on me , my need to find my son I would hand over the money , but
that would be hard when I'm on disability , it would take years. what
a terrible feeling to think I have no outs. I guess what I'm trying
to say is that being a mother I have to live with the guilt , and
being the child they have to live with rejection , set us free , we
both the child and mother are now adults we alone can make the
decision for our selfs , all we want is our rights back , we need to
complete our lives , where are my rights , I do live in america , the
land of free , or is it ? thank you for lettng me vent. sarah

Hi Joan , yes I have contacted oregon on a regular basis , my other
two
sons
have'nt done any thing , didn't know they could. I even wrote my son a
letter , gave medical info , and instructed my other children to give
Michael his stuff things and pictures from birth to 3 years old. If I

would
have known what I'm learning now , I would have never lost my son. I
also am
lurning that the state was not telling me the truth. thanks for your
respond. Sarah

did

Fayth: I did learn that your birth mother's father died at the age of

59 -
the cause of death was listed as "presumably natural disease". No
other
explanation given and your birthmothe's mother died at 93 of
"pneumonia" with

other significant conditions contributing to her death listed as "
urosepsis,

malnutrition, esophageal structure, dementia, pleural effusions" - The

spelling is the best I can make out from the death certificate. Joy

Dear Fayth: I gathered enough information in order to ask Social
Security to

forward a letter from the Court asking your birth mother to contact us

as we
have confidential information that relates directly to her. They have

advised me that they forwarded the letter to her. We will await
contact from

her. I must add that SSA does not advise us where she is or her ssn.

Joy

be
released; 2) You were born at l:02 AM on June 21, 1968; 3 - 9) Info is

not
available in record; 10-12) Considered identifying; 13) Info not
available.
Have a good weekend. Joy P. S . Some of the questions, although not
available in record would be considered identifying if it was
available
-
just so no confusion.

Hi Joy. I have a couple more questions though I'm not sure if you can
answer
any of them. Please let me know.

As always,
Thanks
Fayth

What hospital was I born at?

What time was I born?

Who was the delivering Doctor?

Of what descent was my birthmother?

How tall was my birthmother?

What did my birthmother look like?

Did she have any other children?

Can you tell me their names? (at least first name?) When were they
born?

Where were they born?

What was my birthmothers first name?

Where was my birthmother born?

Where was my birthmother living when I was born?

Where were my birthmothers parents from? (my grandparents?)

Subject: Thanks and answers to some of the questions I've been asked

Hi. First, I'd like to say thanks to all of those that have replied. I

am
going to try to give responses to some of the questions/comments that
I
have
received.

I am aware that Lyme is not hereditary. That is just the disease that

has
brought on many of my daughter's other problems. According to the
docs,
any
predisposition can be aggravated can be aggravated by the lyme and
some have been
including some of her immune probs and possibly some of the
heart/lung/sugar
stuff. I have learned more about my daughter's medical conditions than

I ever
wanted to know over the last few years. I have listened to the docs
and
researched on my own.

As for my grandparents, they are both deceased according to Joy. She
gave me
their causes of death. When I asked for their last address, she told
me
that
was identifying. She will not tell me what hospital I was born in.

When I contacted Marvin Lundy, I was told that he does not keep the
records
due to the need for confidentiality and I would have to get info
through the
court. Joy tells me that I have done everything I can with the court
because my
daughter is not terminal.
I thank G-d that she's not but it breaks my heart to watch her suffer
in pain
when a medical history might be able to provide som further answers.

I have had some wonderful, supportive people try to help me over the
years
but so far, no luck.

Once again, thanks to all who have responded. I pray each day that
things
will change in the adoption search community for all of us that
continue to
search.

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday.
Fayth

FEDERALLY FUNDED "ADOPTION" CONFERENCES:

Congress passed a bill in 2000 called, The Infant Adoption Awareness
Act. They appropriated federal dollars to fund a grant given to the
National Federation for Adoption to conduct a nationwide advertising
and training campaign to promote infant adoption. They are
conducting numerous trainings nationwide for public health nurses,
counselors, educators, etc. The information they are presenting in
these trainings is, of course, very one-sided, and they are giving
many "tools" to help these professionals convince the young,
pregnant "girls" they work with to choose adoption for their
babies. I would suggest any nurse, counselor, educator, volunteer
to sign up for this training, attend the training (even if you
completely disagree with the information presented) and also to
write letters to our congressmen and legislators regarding the
conflict of interest this entails, using federal money to educate
citizens regarding the benefits of adoption, without offering the
benefits of biological parenting also. The trainings also
include "anti-adoption" organizations and open records advocates (by
name - can this be considered slander?) in their materials, and how
the media and these groups supposedly work against the "humane"
choice of adoption. The curriculum in this training also teaches
that in most instances the "humane" decision is for adoption, and
the "inhumane" decision is for parenting. They are giving direct,
verbatim answers to health professionals to tell
their "birthmothers" (before the woman has even chosen adoption) how
to make a "humane" choice for "the" child they are carrying.
They are also paying a stipend, hotel and travel expenses to the
participants in these trainings, and offering a $200 "incentive" for
any participant who can organize a training site at their clinic,
hospital, agency, or place of work for another training to be
conducted. The trainers of these workshops are all "professionals"
who run the local adoption agencies in their communities. This
grant will end in 2004.
The website is www.infantadopt.com , and can be accessed for further
information, or to register for the workshops.

Don't they realize the pain they cause the birth parents and the
adoptees?????
Things like this need to stop before they hurt more people.

Joan , I called the news paper , and just as I thought they would say.

They said that they at this time couldn't do it , but they said maybe
at a later time. I don't think they see it as important as we do ,
maybe
if we set our selfs on fire , that would maybe get their attention.
sorry I tryed sarah

Hi, Can you unite with other birthparents, and put an ad in the
newspapers. Or see if someone will put a human interest story, about
how
Oregon is open, however, if the adoptees don’t sign up, the
birthparents
can’t contact them.

Joan

I posted that I need help with a DMV list for state of oregon .
I said that I was looking for the years of 1985 through 1997.
I made a mistake I need 1985 to 1987. My son would have been sixteen
through eighteen. I know he was adopted in oregon , so that would be
his first drivers lisence. Thank you Sarah
