We do need a break from the search wars - here is something from my
favourite newsgroup for things I would like to do - the kayaking in
Newfoundland newsgroup - is there anyone else who thinks the idea of
paddling in a 17 foot kayak over humpback whales would be a blast?

From time of time, for any of you who like to see pictures of whales up
close, Alex McRuer will have pictures posted on the Newfoundland paddling
web site of whales passing underneath kayaks.

Yes on all counts.
Four of us. Mary, Darren, Ty and I.
I burned up a 24 roll, Ty and Darren also had cameras.
The whales were close , one humpback passed under Marys boat directly
, just a foot or two clear of it.
This was Darrens plan. I just aimed him at a bay.
We had a fin whale seen from the beach in Ferryland, Minki everywhere,
AND hump back whales.
One hump back breached a little ahead of us.

Yes, I was getting a little worried about what types we might be attracting.
I'm expecting Ron a MoRon Ron a MoRon Ron, back at any moment soon, to tell
us how harmless and important paddling is for good discipline.

Count me in. My son and I tried recreational kayaking on a local river this
summer and loved it. I doubt I'll ever get on white water, but I could see a
bit of time on the sea.

My one and only experience with whales, outside of a theme park, was while
salmon fishing on Puget Sound. I could hear them sounding all around the boat,
but they were concealed by the fog all night long. I was never sure if what I
heard was the boat creaking or the whales singing.

Jesus, b'y, I knows I wouldn't be having a **** la. I may be a
psychotic adoptee (I recognize the redundancy there), but I wouldn't
be going anywhere near a big, bloody whale in an itty bitty little
kayak.

I was thinking that maybe Doug was more interesting than I originally thought.
<ducking and running> Just kidding, Doug.
