View Full Version : Paycheck Errors!

I work for a popular company in California.
I got my first few paychecks just fine.
Then last payday my check was direct deposited into another workers bank account.
They sent a new paycheck 4 days later since they couldn't / wouldn't overnight it on a saturday. I spent the whole weekend with no money!

Then this payday it happened AGAIN! My money in the same co workers account.

The other person and I don't have anything close to similar in our names, or social security numbers and it seems no reason for this mix up. I don't even have a bank account!

We are paid bi monthly (every other thursday) and our pay periods begin on Sunday and ends on Saturday.

It seems like this is becoming a habit. And because it isn't sent until early friday I don't recieve it until Monday. Don't I have to have my check 7 days from the end of the pay period, which would be Saturday, not Monday?

Are they in violation of anything? Why have an appointed payday and you don't pay me!?

Because they are inept and, as a payroll professional for many years, this really bothers me. Here's the problem, though. By the time you would get a claim filed for late payment and the DLSE got around to it, you would have received the check long ago. Maybe the employer would get a slap on the wrist.

If you were to revoke your direct deposit authorization, could you get your check in person on pay day? I'm a huge fan of direct deposit, but not it your payroll department can't do it right and, as a result, you don't get paid on time.

Thats the problem now... I DONT HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT!
I normally get a regular check.
Call me crazy but I dont trust computers with my money.
I wonder why...
Also, if i did want to file a claim,
who would I contact and what exactly would i ask for, what forms, etc?

Thank you for all the help.
