Also make sure whoever you hire is in the state you are searching and
that the fee they quote includes "leg work". If you have the name of
your birthmother or father, you don't need to pay anyone. Volunteers
can help you.

If you do hire a searcher, make certain that the person you hire is a no-find/no-fee searcher. Get something in writing. Also, ask the company if they can obtain original birth certificates/or have access to a birth index and provide you with BC numbers...you don't
need to know their "sources" but if the company states they have no
access to OBC's or a birth index for the state you are searching in, than they are not the company you want to hire. 3. Check paid searcher references very carefully. Contact the
Better Business Bureau in the area the paid searcher comes from and
ask the BBB how many complaints are registered against that
person/business. 4. If you are unsure of how to check references, email
AngelsLostInAdoption-Owner@yahoogroups.com and the owner/moderators,
will check the paid searcher and get back to you. 5. Never go with a pay first, find second company. The individual
paid searcher might need to have his/her expenses met, but never give
the entire fee up front. If a searcher asks for that, run away.

baby62168@aol.com wrote:Hi. I have been searching for 7 years. I have

very little information to go on though I have followed all of the
traditional search steps. My biggest reason for searching is that I
really
need my medical history. My 11 year old daughter is chronically ill
and
it may shed some light on some of her problems. She has Chronic Lyme
disease, fibromyalgia, CFIDS, heart and lung problems, and
hypoglycemia.
She spent six months in a wheelchair last year due to these
conditions.
Now they have found problems with her spine for which they have no
answers.

I have plenty of other reasons for wanting to find but that is my
first
priority.

I was born 6/21/68 in Philadelphia, PA. I was born at approximately
1:30am and was 8lbs 1 oz. My adoption was handled privately by
attorney
Marvin Lundy. I was adopted by a Jewish couple from NJ. My a-mom was a

school teacher. My non-id states that my b-mother was single and 24 at

the time of my birth. My b-grandfather died at age 59. My b-father was

not listed. My a-mom remembers something being mentioned about
Bristol.
Possibly that my b-mom was from there? I was dropped off to my
a-parents
in the back parking lot of a hotel. My a-parents were asked to pay
cash
in advance of my delivery. My a-mom was told that my b-father was a
truck driver and that my b-mom's family did not approve of the
relationship. How much of what she was told being true,. I do not
know. My
b-mother's dob and social security number was not in the
paperwork...only
that she was 24. When the court searcher sent to the last known
address,
the letter was returned. She tried to obtain her social security info
and
was told that my b-mom was not in their records as having worked for

the last 3 years and therefore couldn't be traced that way.

I have registered with all of the pa registies as well as the wwr and
isrr. I have a copy of my adoption decree (which simply states that my

adoption was finalized on 7/25/69). I have posted anyplace I have
found
on the net. I cannot afford to hire a searcher. I have very little
time
to put into searching as caring for my daughter takes so much of my
time. Anyone that has any further ideas, please share them. I would
really
appreciate any help.

Thanks
Fayth
