I call it support the state and forget about the child! I recently had to go to court for being behind on my support, I had to have surgery and was off work. the state gave me time to get back on my feet for 3 months, then when I had checkup with the doctor, he only released me for light duty. My employer would not take me back until I was able to work full duty. The courts told me that I can find something to do and start paying my child support again. 2 months later I was called in court for late child support and served 180 days in jail.I lost my job, I was making about 18.00/ per hour. I found a new job for 7.50 per hour and now the court will not lower my child support, I pay 750.00 per month in witch the state recieves 15.00 of it. The court says that they will not lower my support because I was making 18.00 per hour and there is no reason that I can not make that kind of money again. now I am behind 2300.00 in support and only have 30 days to pay it or go back to jail for 180 days. To top the cake I have not seen my child for about 7 years because every time I get to see my son my ex wife appleys for a pfa order on me and that cost me 150.00 in court fees. I sent my parents to get my son one time and she had them arreseted. A pfa order is so easy for a woman to get, the court says that I am not guilty of anything but they have to protect her. And a pfa order states that I have no contact what so ever for 2 years. So I stay away. Once again the state of PA is a messed up state, because they don't care about the child and there welfare, all they care about is there 15.00 per month per child, how many people in the state of pa are paying this 15.00 per month dues to the state for there child support, rough gess about 500,000 people. That means the state is making about 7.5 million dollars a month. ( do you think they will ever change the law! I Don't think So) Also i live in Somerset County, The town it self is pretty much all law offices, the court house had a 10 million dollar rentavation. this pretty much tells the story of what kind of country we all live in (money hungry government). don't get me wrong I love my country, but changes need to be made.
