I am wondering, based on Gender, whether or not this qualifies for a discrimination complaint, I think it does. Colorado is the location
During the past year, I have been constantly put down and or degraded by the owner of the company I currently work for. Statements that she has made, such as, "If you would take the time to understand women, you would understand that you are wrong". She started off one comment :this is a sexist comment: when the CEO asked her "than please DO NOT say it" the owner stated "well I have to say it, Men should not be in the field, they are not as compassionate as women, nor as caring, we should have more women in the field" this conversation was a hiring issue. She has asked me if I wanted to get married to a friend of hers, because her friend is having problems with immigration. She has exposed herself to me, wanting me to see the bruises on her body, when asked if I wanted to see the ones higher up I said NO!!
She was asked several times by the CEO to "curb" comments and that they were inappropriate, though they have continued, now the CEO has been fired. I have filed a complaint, htough that was three weeks ago and the governing board does not seem interested in following through with this complaint. The fact that the governing board consist of her family members and family friends may have something to do with this. The environment is very unpleasent, in many ways hostile, and there is the constant air that she says whatever she wants regardless of who is present. My understanding, at least what I have read--suggests that after she has been asked to stop saying these degrading statements and she continues it falls within the criteria of discrimination. I filed an EEOC complaint, and her husband came into the office and deleted the files on my computer, I was told that the owner has full rights to destroy, read, copy, or remove files they do not want on their computers.
This has been constant which has also created an physically ill feeling of having to come in. I have missed work, every time I see her, it reminds me of how she feels, "my value and worth is not based on my ability to do the job, it is based on my gender. Because I am male she puts very little value (according to her statements) in my ability because I am a male". I am a true loss for my next step. The board is pushing this issue under the table and knowing this is making it even worse. She knows I filed and her family and friends are protecting her while I am made to feel worthless based on her feelings of gender.
